Kazunaga Ota - 2025.09.06 - 10.05

-----------------------

Wild animals such as deer and wild boars are considered "pests" by humans and exterminated.
Ota Kazunaga uses this leather as a material to create his works.

To that being that bears the name "harm,"
Leather products that breathe new meaning and warmth into your products.
It gives the feeling of holding "a part of something big" in nature,
At the same time, it exudes a gentle and soft beauty.

Among the wild deer and boar leathers used,
There are also rough areas where wild deer and boars have attacked.
To dye such leather,
It seems they had a hard time finding a dye that was compatible.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ota and his child were playing with colored water using morning glory, which led to
I discovered that plant dyes work well together.
For accents, she rubs herbs collected from her garden,
He established a production style in which he boldly incorporated color into the leather.

By combining the precious leather of exterminated animals with the colors of plants,
It expresses the life-size nature that comes from Ota's daily life.

The relationship between humans, animals and nature
This is not something that only concerns us.
The "richness of nature" is the "richness of our lives" itself.

That is why we must tell the story of lives that are being lost.
We cannot remain irrelevant.

Helping to enrich your life,
At Ousia, we are facing the preciousness of the lives of animals that have been exterminated as pests.
We will be exhibiting Ota's works as tools for everyday life.

To the sensitive question of coexistence,
Because there is no single answer,
Ota's work is quietly but surely
Ask us.
